BACKGROUND

Tevaor Desert Oil was developed by Dr. Eli Harlev, a chemist living at Arad in Israel and working at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Dr. Harlev has been looking for skin protecting oily formulations not containing any artificial components, but rather harnessing the healing capacity of compounds included in ‘ethnic’ - particularly desert - plants. During his search Dr. Harlev has become increasingly aware of the long-term damaging effects to the human body caused by common cosmetic products containing man-made components - but also of the advantages of traditional cosmetics based on therapeutic desert plants used in ancient times and during generations by the Bedouins living in the Israeli Northern Negev and Judean Desert. Such plants, growing under harsh desert stress conditions, have developed antioxidant and other self-defense systems, which benefits to the human body, particularly skin and hair, have been unequivocally established from time immemorial. The outcome Tevaor Desert Oil combines the therapeutic capabilities derived from the oily components of grown-in-the- wild desert plants, together with the already commonly known protective, healing and beautifying attributes of the jojoba seed oil.

Teveor Desert Oil is a unique formula of the essential oils of aromatic plants growing wild in the Israeli Northern Negev and Judean Desert, combined with jojoba oil produced by a cold-press process. The effects of jojoba oil on the human skin have been extensively investigated in recent years. It is found to resemble the composition and epidermal penetration capability of the natural oil produced by the human skin (sebum) - enhancing the natural elasticity, smoothness and suppleness of the skin, while its rich content of tocopherols (vitamin E) and other valuable ingredients slow down skin aging and provide protection against outdoor irradiation. The volatile aromatic oils, on their part, have been immemorially and extensively used by the Israeli Negev Bedouins for therapeutic purposes. They nourish and stimulate the skin and enhance the immune system. They are natural antiseptic, antifungal, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and ache-soothing agents, while also attributing Teveor Desert Oil with its unique and pleasant ‘biblical’ scent.
